| The Junior Ski to Sea race is a beloved community event held locally at beautiful Lake Padden since 1991 for participants who are at least in the 3rd grade (age 9) or older. This event has been presented by Bank of the Pacific since 2008 and is a Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Industry event. Each year, six-member teams register to participate in a 5-leg race consisting of: Running, Three-Legged Race, Biking, Soccer, and an Obstacle Course.
Teams and participants are also encouraged to show off their team pride by joining the Jr. Parade held the day before in downtown Bellingham. Junior Ski to Sea is always held the weekend before Memorial Day.
