Registration for the Junior Ski to Sea Race is completely online for 2011 at www.JuniorSkitoSea.com
The Ski to Sea Jr. Race is on May 21, 2011 and is presented by Bank of the Pacific. The Jr. Race takes place from 8am - 4pm at Lake Padden in Bellingham.
Online Registration and Team Websites
Registration will be limited to a total of 225 teams. The registration deadline is Friday, May 6, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. There will be 75 teams per race (75 Elementary AM teams, 75 Middle School & Community teams, and 75 Elementary PM teams). If AM Elementary School race fills to capacity, you will be assigned to the PM Elementary Division. Middle School Race now has an open Community Division.
Online Registration is a Two Step Process
- Completely fill out the registration form online at www.JuniorSkitoSea.com. If you require a paper registration form, call the Chamber at (360)-734-1330 to request one. Please note that there is an additional $25 charge to cover the cost of chamber staff manually entering the information.
- When you click on the SUBMIT button on the online form, your copy of the registration Form will print out on your local printer. Take the printed registration form and have ALL your racers’ parents sign in the hold harmless and return it to the Chamber along with payment.
IMPORTANT: Your Team is NOT guaranteed a spot in the race until all of the following is completed: (a) payment is received; (b) hold harmless agreement is signed by each parent; (c) hold harmless agreement is received by the chamber. Confirmation of your team's spot (Division and Time) will be emailed this year once Steps 1 and 2 have been completed. The Captain must have a valid email address in order to receive conformation that the team is in the race. Confirmation letters will not be sent in the mail for 2011.
TAKE THE FREE SHUTTLE TO LAKE PADDEN
The BWCCI Green Team for the Ski to Sea Race has arranged for a shuttle bus to run continuously from West Entrance (Beach Swim Area Parking) to the race course at the East entrance between 8am and 4:30pm. All Volunteers, parents, spectators, and racers are encouraged to use this FREE shuttle to avoid the parking rush at Lake Padden. You will be turned away once the east entrance is full so plan on extra time if you have to take the shuttle. The shuttle is sponsored by: Bellingham OB/GYN.
REGISTRATION FEES: $90 per team ($15 per racer). A racer can only be on one team, and only participate in one division and one leg of race. Please submit only one (1) check per team. Make your check out to B.W.C.C.I. You can also call the Chamber and use a credit card to pay the team’s registration fee at (360) 734-1330. DEADLINE: May 6, 2011, 5pm. TEAM WEBSITES: If you visit the Junior Ski to Sea website at www.JuniorSkitoSea.com, you can build your own team pages! You do not have to wait for the registration to open in order to create a Team Site.
Team sites are 6 page websites where parents control the content. It is a great way for you to show off your past race pictures and other fun things about your team. Note: The Team Pages replace the media pages from years past. The media will visit and use these Team Pages to profile selected teams in the newspaper and on radio. All team names must be in good taste and appropriate to the standards of the broadcasting community.
THREE RACES
There will be three separate races taking place at the following times:
- ELEMENTARY AM, Check in at 8:00 A.M., Race at 9:00 A.M. (3RD - 5TH GRADE)
- MIDDLE SCHOOL & COMMUNITY, Check in at 11:15 A.M., Race at 12:15 P.M. (6TH - 8TH GRADE & OPEN DIVISION FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY)
- ELEMENTARY PM, Check in at 1:45 P.M., Race at 2:45 P.M. (3RD - 5TH GRADE)
TEAM
All Three races will have three divisions.
- Both the Elementary School Races AM & PM will have (1) a Male-only division (2) a Female-only division and (3) a Mixed division (3 males, 3 females). All teams must be all male or all female except in the mixed division.
- The Middle School & Community Race will have (1) a Middle School Male-only division (2) a Middle School Female-only division and (3) a Middle School Mixed division (3 males, 3 females) and (1) Community open division (open to everyone). Note: All Community Race Participants must be in grade 3 or above.
- A participant may compete on only one team and in only one leg of one race. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Teams that do not follow these guidelines will be disqualified. Please be aware of what division was selected should you need to find a substitution. All Participants for all races MUST be in 3rd grade or above.
No changes in divisions will be allowed after the application has been processed. There is a limit of 225 teams. There are 75 teams in each division: Elementary, Middle School & Community.
CHECK IN: REGISTRATION WILL OPEN AT 8:00 A.M., MAY 21 AT LAKE PADDEN FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RACE, 11:15 A.M. FOR THE MIDDLE SCHOOL RACE, AND 1:45 P.M. FOR THE COMMUNITY RACE.
